He always knows.

It’s been days since Dorian gave me my… my reward for being good, and it still feels like my body is thrumming with pleasure.

If I think about it too hard, I flush with embarrassment over how shamelessly I acted in front of him… but all I have to do is remind myself that he told me to, that he wanted it, praised me for it, was proud of me for being so good for him, and the sweet twist of humiliation in my gut turns into something hot and delicious.

Distractingly delicious.

Which is kind of a problem right now, since I don’t want to give anyone the wrong impression by having an obvious hard-on in public.

I’m at an all-ages show featuring a couple bands I can’t remember the names of. Not because I’m all that into their music, but because the campus LGBTQ+ club I belong to is having a social event here and I promised I’d come.

Not a promise made to Dorian, although thinking that reminds me that I haven’t checked in yet on social media like he likes me to whenever I go anywhere.

I quickly pull my phone out and tag my location, then shove it back in my pocket when I see Tyler McIntyre heading my way from the other side of the dimly lit, crowded room. He’s the president of the LGBTQ+ club, and personally invited me to join since we have a class together.

He’s also the one who made me promise to come, and since he’s so nice to me—always reminding me of meetings and trying to make me feel welcome—it didn’t seem right to say no.

“Saw you smiling when you took out your phone,” he says in lieu of a greeting when he finally makes his way over to me, resting one hand on the wall above my head and leaning in close so I can hear him over the music. “Please tell me you haven’t gone and got yourself a boyfriend.”

“What?” I ask, startled. “No! Of course not.”

His eyes rake over me and his smile makes me squirm, but not in the hot, sexy way Dorian’s did the other night. The squirming that Tyler inspires is more like a worm trying to wriggle off a sharp hook through the belly.

“Good,” he says, with a totally confusing level of smugness.

“Um… is it?”

This time, his smile shows teeth. “Of course it is. I wouldn’t want anyone else to snatch up a pretty little morsel like you, Percy.”

“No, um, no chance of that,” I tell him with a nervous laugh. I love it when Dorian tells me I’m pretty, but from Tyler, I’m not so sure. “My brother wouldn’t allow it.”

Tyler’s eyebrows go up. “Your brother? Is he the overprotective sort.”

Warmth fills my chest. “Yeah,” I sigh dreamily.

Tyler snickers. “Sucks to be you, then.”

That startles all the good feelings out of me. “What? No! I, um, I don’t mind. I like him looking out for me.”

“Looking out for you?” He smirks, running the backs of his fingers down my cheeks as he leans in even closer.
